Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. In football, he was alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during the college. Following college, he relocated into Tampa and played nine years for the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his professional career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young men across the nation. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized his on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
