Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop artists: one capable of successfully cross the divide between country and pop and conquer the world. Swift shed her country roots as though they were part of her skin, revealing she was arguably the smartest populist singer/songwriter of her generation one that could tap into the current zeitgeist and make it personal and also perform opposite. Swift's first hits, particularly their neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. However, her album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was discovering herself and was able to draw a wide audience. Fearless wound up having considerable legs not only in the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well within the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album Speak Now, released just two years after the first one, consolidated the success of this album. The album propelled Swift to the heights of fame. She grew in popularity throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in the genre she was a part of. However, even when she reduced her approach with 2020's stripped-down sibling releases folklore and Evermore she remained atop the pop world a position she kept with the re-recordings of her back catalog along with Midnights which was her top-charting synthesizer 2022 collection.
