In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just six months. It was a mixture of reggaeton, pop and rock has not just brought interest to reggaeton, but also brought attention towards Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in the year 2015. The popularity of Despacito was at its highest in the year 2017. In 2020 there will be 41 primarily Spanish songs will be included in the Top 100. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 shortly after which the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018), while Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). In 2020, several Reggaeton artists were complaining about the trend of the genre towards the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. He often used electronic dance as well as different forms.
