She began singing on a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. She recorded her first album within the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. In high school she was able to establish herself within the school community but her goals were bigger. After graduating from high school in 1964 she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his TV show syndicated by a network at approximately the same as the time. Parton accepted the role in 1966. She then she joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. The band split in 1974 after her own hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene oversold her collaborations. Parton's song, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), was able to reach the top of the. number 1 position after the duo separated. This was the first time a single was able to reach No.
